South Texas

The mission efforts in south Texas are overseen by the Pharr Church of Christ and are designed to reach out to the Hispanic population in Hidalgo County, Texas, and areas across the border in Mexico. Primary activities include planting and constructing new churches, remodeling and repairing the mostly substandard homes of church members, benevolence projects including MAGI boxes (filled with gifts and other needed items for community children) and mobile dental clinics, Vacation Bible Schools, and a school of preaching. Since the late 1980s, the south Texas mission effort has planted five Spanish-speaking churches in Hidalgo County and over one dozen in Mexico, with most of those in Reynosa and Monterey.
